At the beginning of your studies, you will become familiar with the principles of natural and physical sciences, environmental technology, circular economy, and sustainable development, as well as their interaction with climate change and biological and technological cycles. These form the foundation for deepening your competence during your further studies.
The professional studies include topics such as resource and material efficiency, digital tools, quality and project management, built environment, product design, and responsible business from the perspective of sustainable solutions and the circular economy.
A flexible curriculum enables versatile learning methods
We encourage you to complete your studies using various learning methods, as our curriculum structure is flexible.
You will study and learn individually and collaboratively through lectures, laboratory work, exercises, work-life projects, company visits, teamwork, and by utilizing digital tools and software in many different ways. Sustainable Design Business educates contemporary designers for a sustainable future
In the bachelor's degree programme in Sustainable Design Business (SDB), you will learn to approach challenges with human-centered and responsible methods and tools. This means taking on the role of a contemporary designer, moving beyond traditional formgiving.
The programme combines theory and practice and equips you with design, prototyping and futures-oriented skills, together with an understanding of sustainable business models such as the circular economy. It enables you to pursue a career in sustainable organisations and also offers a pathway to master’s level studies.
LAB Institute of Design and Fine Arts is one of the oldest design schools in the Nordic countries. You will study in a creative, communal and modern environment where facilities and equipment enable multidisciplinary work and future-making.
