LAB Food

LAB Food is LAB University of Applied Sciences’ integrated entity for the food sector. We carry out research, development, and innovation activities in the food industry and educate new professionals. The core development environment for our activities is the Food Pilot Plant, which supports innovation in plant-based foods and provides product development and research services for food industry companies, particularly in the beverage and grain products sectors.

Supporting company growth and internationalization is among LAB Food’s strategic objectives. This is achieved through extensive regional and national networks, complemented by expanding international collaboration networks. In the Päijät-Häme region, the Grain Cluster has emerged as a strong center of expertise for the grain sector, covering the entire value chain from primary production to industry and retail.

LAB Food collaborates with other universities of applied sciences and universities and operates as part of the LUT University Group. LAB has strong expertise in the circular economy, biomaterials, and business, which enhances the impact and relevance of education and RDI activities in the food sector.
