Local nature as business booster
The main objective of the project is to strengthen the ability of companies to utilize existing local and urban natural environments as a platform for innovation in nature-based services. The project will accelerate cooperation between business, universities and municipalities as well as end users along the whole value chain of nature-based services and products. The project develops companies' nature-based business by identifying innovative solutions based on scientific evidence. In addition, the project produces information and experiences to support decisions on public investments for piloting and piloting activities in local and urban natural environments.
Project target group is SMEs and micro-enterprises engaged in nature-based business in the Päijät-Häme region, as well as potential new start-ups that have been seeded in the project. The project supports and innovates new services and products together with companies. Bringing nature based services at the heart of the development and conceptualisation of new business is a major opportunity for companies and society as a whole in Finland.
As a result, companies can utilize local natural environments as platforms for sustainable nature-based services and in the innovation of new services. 10 nature-based innovative services and products have been developed with companies. The project has produced open operating model for developing nature-based, innovative services for companies. Business development and innovation capabilities of target companies have increased. The project produces a report of the needs and ideas of businesses in the area in terms of business in local and urban nature environments for municipalities.
The project has been prepared in cooperation with LAB University of Applied Sciences, the University of Helsinki and the City of Lahti, as well as with companies providing nature-based services. The need for the project has been discussed earlier in the stakeholder meetings of the Physical Activity and Experiences Roadmap project.
