Rapid commercial development of companies' innovation activities with the help of research results

Innovation projects in micro and small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs) often fail due to a lack of information, suitable funding, or access to research data. Alongside managing day-to-day business operations, finding the right pathways to implement development ideas can be challenging, leaving many promising concepts unrealized.

The RDI activities (research, development, and innovation) of universities of applied sciences and universities offer solutions for refining and commercializing business development ideas and innovations. However, this potential often remains underutilized by micro and small-to-medium enterprises.

During events organized by the LAB Paja II project, entrepreneurs in South Karelia have highlighted the need to better leverage the RDI results, as well as the laboratory and workshop facilities of higher education institutions, for the development of their own or new businesses. While companies often have ideas, their resources for the rapid commercialization of innovations, products, and services may be insufficient.
