MONNI harjoittelupilotti
The project will develop and pilot a new model for clinical placement guidance together with students and working life. During the piloting of the clinical placement model, the presence of an S2 teacher and a nursing teacher in the placement units will be enabled to support the progress of the placement. The Finnish language teacher (S2) will support students and new employees from foreign backgrounds in preparing them for client situations and nursing documentation together with nursing staff and the teachers supervising the internships.
In addition, the S2 teacher trains nursing professionals and guiding teachers in the pilot units as necessary to increase language and cultural awareness. The model develops the students' Finnish language skills, integrates them into the working life of the region and promotes their employability in South Karelia region.
The development of clinical placement model will help non-native Finnish-speaking students to complete clinical placements in South Karelia Wellbeing Services County. The students will gain meaningful internship experiences, integrate into work communities and through this they can find employment in the region.
Clinical supervisors will be provided with supported language- and culture-awareness guidance in cooperation with nursing and S2 teachers, which will increase their willingness to guide non-native Finnish-speaking students.
The co-development of the clinical placement model will strengthen the cooperation between LAB University of Applied Sciences and South Karelia Wellbeing Services County.
