Digitalization, the growth of data volumes, and artificial intelligence are significantly transforming work tasks, creating a need for new kinds of skills in workplaces—both in utilizing digital solutions and in identifying and developing new business opportunities.
The target group of the project includes micro and small-to-medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and their personnel in the Imatra sub-region, which comprises Imatra, Ruokolahti, Rautjärvi, and Parikkala, regardless of industry. The project enhances companies’ capabilities in data utilization and AI adoption, supporting the development of their business operations.
The project will organize open "data training sessions" aimed at companies in the Imatra sub-region. These sessions help local businesses and other organizations understand how data can support decision-making and business development, and identify which business processes benefit most from data in terms of added value and improved efficiency.
With twelve participating companies, the project will implement customized "data experiments." Depending on the company, these experiments may focus on improving data management and utilization through artificial intelligence or new analytics tools. The goal is to make data more understandable and impactful—for example, by reducing error-prone manual work, increasing predictability, enhancing customer experience, or presenting data in a more decision-supportive format.
In addition to training and experiments, the project will host networking and peer-learning events that offer regional stakeholders opportunities to develop their expertise collaboratively. These events will share best practices from the data experiments and foster new initiatives between companies.
