Multipurpose materials
Kiemura: Mikro- ja kierrätysmuovien kiertotalousratkaisut
The main aim of this project is to enhance material recycling for plastics and to develop analysis and identification methods for micro plastics in solid materials.
Project activities include the construction and testing of a plastic washing and recycling unit, which includes plastic washing and drying equipment and a twin screw extruder. The unit is used for testing the suitability of different plastic fractions and their mixtures for, for instance, making of recycled plastic granulates. The focus is on plastic fractions that currently go to incineration. For micro plastics, activities consist of developing a method for analysing microplastics in, for example, compost and recycled fertilisers.
