LAB University of Applied Sciences has launched a procurement procedure concerning the design and delivery of a Deep Eutectic Solvent (DES) test environment to be installed at the LAB Biofine pilot facility. The pilot environment focuses on the use of green solvents in the separation and recovery of bio-based components. The facility will be located on the LUT University campus in Skinnarila, Lappeenranta.

The subject of the procurement is a DES-based extraction and separation process test environment, including process design, equipment, construction, assembly, and commissioning. The test environment will enable research and pilot-scale application testing of deep eutectic solvents (DES and NADES) as part of LAB’s Green Solvents Environment investment project during 2026–2027.

The objective of the procurement is to establish a flexible, safe, and research-oriented DES testing platform that can be utilized in collaboration with industry partners as well as in research and development projects. The environment will enable testing of, among other aspects, the extraction efficiency of DES solvents, process scalability, solvent recyclability, and sustainable product recovery and separation methods.

The procurement will be carried out using an open procedure. Applications to participate must be submitted via the electronic procurement system no later than 15.06.2026 at 12:00 (UTC +03:00).

Information on the procurement has been published in the Finnish public procurement notification channel, Cloudia, and all communication regarding the tender will be conducted through Cloudia.
