LAB University of Applied Sciences will arrange its traditional Summer School together with other Academic institutions operating in Lahti (University of Helsinki, LUT University and Lahti University Campus).
Lahti Summer School 2027 CO-DESIGN BETTER URBAN LIVING AND WELLBEING will be organized on
24 May - 4 June 2027
Mandatory online sessions will be organised before the physical course in Lahti.
Welcome to our summer school which is aimed for students interested in sustainable urban environments with either technical, business, design, social, communications or healthcare background. Multidisciplinary and international summer school focuses on themes related to planetary health. During the summer school, you will learn how human health and the health of the planet are closely connected and what can be done to protect and enhance both.
The presentations and discussion during the weeks will take place in authentic location in Lahti and surroundings. This way you can experience the environment and nature like locals. Program contains several sessions and lectures from experts, from field of environment, health and urban living.

This international summer school is aimed for both Bachelor’s and Master’s degree students with either technical, business, design, social, communications or healthcare background. All students are welcome! Please notice that we are taking max 80 students to course.
Study Program 5 ECTS
The 2-week intensive study program consists of online pre-days, and two weeks course on campus. Study methods are teamwork, lectures, excursions, presentations and workshops.
- After registration period, a mandatory pre-assignment will be sent to all registrants. Deadline to return pre assignment is 26 April.
- Before the physical course, there are two mandatory online sessions. A link to the sessions and a more detailed program will be sent to participants by 1May at the latest.
- The physical part of the summer school starts on 24 May at 10 (Finnish time).
NOTE: 100% attendance requirement for the physical period
Fees
No fee for students coming from the Erasmus partner universities.
Accommodation and travel to and from Lahti will be arranged and covered by participants.
ERASMUS+ BIP
The course will be arranged as an Erasmus+ BIP.
Please check with your home university’s International office if you are eligible and how to apply for the grant.

All registered participants will receive a pre-assignment by email after the registration deadline.
Only students who have returned the pre-assignment will be accepted to the course. Accepted students will be notified by email.
Please note that we will accept a maximum of 80 students for the course.
