The challenge WOW! addresses is to create a transition in the urban water cycle. From a linear approach which ends up as sewage, up to a circular approach in which raw materials from sewage are recycled for biobased products. With the capitalization call WOW! gets the opportunity to develop more various tools and activities to maximize the impact of project results, which is good news for the circular economy.

Objectives
WOW! - Wider business Opportunities for raw materials from Wastewater has proven that recovery of products from sewage is possible and has a promising future. The WOW! capitalization focuses on further roll-out and introduction of 2 of those products to new stakeholders, economic sectors & geographical areas 1) Use of cellulose-based activated carbon for micropollutant removal will target wastewater treatment plants in rural areas 2) PHA bioplastic production from industrial wastewater streams will target new economic sectors eg. food processing & packaging industry.
Outcomes
Both elements of this WoW! capitalisation initiative will improve and increase the recovery of raw materials and products from wastewater (both from industries and households) in different territories to further increase the territorial relevance of the WoW! project, both within and outside the NWE territories.
