VALTO - Strong Internationalization and Utilization of Digitalization for the Needs of the Manufacturing Industry in Päijät-Häme
VALTO strengthens the research and innovation capabilities of Päijät-Häme's SME industry and promotes the adoption of new technologies and methods. The project supports the region's goal of increasing RDI investments to over 200 million euros by 2028 and accelerates the green transition and sustainable use of resources.
In cooperation with companies in the region, LAB University of Applied Sciences and other research organizations, new products, services and operating models are created that strengthen Päijät-Häme's position as a nationally significant innovation center.
The key development partner in the project is LAB University of Applied Sciences' Laboratory of Radical Innovations (LRI). LRI is a unit specializing in radical innovations that combines design thinking, systemic understanding and future-oriented foresight in the practical development work of companies.
Objectives
The VALTO project aims to develop the ability of SMEs in Päijät-Häme to utilize new technologies, digital solutions and design expertise in customer-oriented product development. It also aims to build efficient innovation processes suitable for the SME sector, which enable rapid experimentation, learning and commercialization.
During the project, at least 27 product development design experiments will be carried out, which will produce valuable information and concrete results for companies to use. The experiments will create new methods and models that will help SMEs develop their products and services in a more agile and sustainable way in the future.
In the long term, the VALTO project will increase the innovation capacity of companies in Päijät-Häme and create the basis for the region's sustainable growth and international attractiveness.
