SoteCircle - Circular economy solutions in social and health care

The main objective of the project is to strengthen the capacity of social and health care organizations in Päijät-Häme, particularly those operating in primary health care, home-based services, and assisted living, to respond to the challenges posed by climate change. The project promotes the transition towards a circular economy through improved materials management, waste prevention, and the adoption of sustainable operating practices. It enhances organisations’ expertise in circular economy principles and supports their practical application in social and health care services while developing sustainable and cost-effective service solutions.

The project will help organizations reduce waste management costs, improve resource efficiency, and decrease their environmental impact and carbon footprint. The operating models developed through the project will also support organizations in preparing for upcoming EU packaging and waste legislation. These measures contribute to environmentally sustainable practices in the social and health care sector and support the implementation of the Päijät-Häme Circular Economy Roadmap.

The SoteCircle project brings significant added value by complementing and strengthening existing climate, circular economy, and sustainability initiatives, particularly within the private social and health care sector. The circular economy potential of the sector remains largely untapped and insufficiently recognised. The project addresses this gap by developing practical solutions, tools, and operating models that support businesses in adopting more sustainable practices.
