Mekaanisen puunjalostuksen ekosysteemin kartoitus

The aim of the project is to define an operating concept, prerequisites and organizations for the ecosystem of mechanical bioprocessing in Päijät-Häme region.

The ecosystem of mechanical bioprocessing consists of sawmill industry, wood processing companies, other corporations operating in the field, training schools and universities. A functioning ecosystem develops the operating environment and improves competitiveness of local sawmill and wood processing industry.

With the help of the ecosystem it is possible to increase added value in bioprocessing products and find new growth opportunities for businesses. Co-operation between organizations in the ecosystem will enable its members to participate better in research, development and innovation activities in the field and support development of new technologies and their utilization. The objective is to include mechanical bioprocessing as one of the means of achieving the targets of Finnish climate policy agenda. This, together with creating the ecosystem for mechanical bioprocessing in Lahti region, will strengthen the position of sawmill and wood processing fields among Finnish export industries. The project is funded by Päijät-Hämeen Liitto.
