The project maps the waste heat flows in the Häme region and investigates how they can be utilized more efficiently technologically. The project produces a comprehensive spatial data-based map of waste heat sites in Kanta- and Päijät-Häme and assesses the suitability of various technologies for the recovery and use of waste heat. In addition, business models, contract and pricing solutions, and legislation in the field in Finland and Europe are examined.

The project is implemented in cooperation between Häme University of Applied Sciences, Lappeenranta-Lahti University of Technology (LUT) and LAB University of Applied Sciences. The project is co-funded by the European Union.

The goal is to find concrete solutions that allow companies and municipalities to reduce their energy costs and emissions. At the same time, open research data is produced and regional networks are strengthened to build an energy-efficient and climate-smart Häme. The project directly supports the green transition and the competitiveness of the entire region – that is, it helps turn wasted energy into new opportunity.
