EPEKY -Energiatehokkuuden parantaminen Etelä-Karjalan yritysyhteisöissä - Yksityisen ja julkisen sektorin yhteistyön vahvistaminen

The target group of the project is small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the South Karelia region, where the need to improve energy efficiency has been identified. SMEs play a significant role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, as they represent a large share of regional economic activity.

However, various challenges—such as lack of expertise, costs, or other constraints—can hinder SMEs from taking action. Public authorities also have limited resources to support private sector initiatives, but cooperation between public and private actors could greatly enhance SMEs’ ability to implement energy efficiency measures.

The project emphasizes collaboration between the public and private sectors, fostering dialogue and networking especially between SMEs and authorities. It aims to clarify the opportunities available for improving energy efficiency. Cities can act as regional climate leaders, providing guidance and setting an example for business communities.

The project will also produce information and best practices to support SMEs and public sector actors in implementing energy efficiency measures, thereby strengthening regional expertise and competitiveness.
