Climate change represents one of the most critical challenges of our time, requiring collective action informed by scientific evidence and public trust. However, misinformation and disinformation campaigns threaten these efforts by distorting facts, polarizing public discourse, and undermining confidence in sustainable solutions. Ultimately this will hinder informed decision-making and climate action threatening our collective ability to build a safe and equitable future for everyone. In response to these challenges, CLIMAware is designed as a cross-sectoral initiative that integrates scientific research, media literacy, and artistic engagement to combat climate-related misinformation and enhance public resilience against disinformation, including AI-generated fakes.

Answer to a survey! Climate change in the media: what do you come across and what do you trust?

The effects of climate change are already visible in Europe. However, there is a lot of false or contradictory information going around in different media about climate change. This, together with the continuous flood of information and many different communication channels, challenges people's media literacy and their ability to distinguish real facts from false claims.

With the help of this survey, we aim to explore the types of climate‑change claims you have met with recently, how believable you find them, and how reliable you consider the information given is. The survey is anonymous and takes less than 10 minutes to complete. You can access the English language version of survey here: https://ec.europa.eu/eusurvey/runner/CLIMAware_survey

We will use the answers in planning the activities of the CLIMAware project and in scientific research.
