Development of quantitative fire safety assessment for increasingly diverse care facility environments

Development of quantitative fire safety assessment for increasingly diverse care facility environments, Pel-Arvi-Hoiva -project aims to harmonize and improve the assessment of fire and evacuation safety in care facility environments in a quantitative direction for the use of emergency services and for those working in the facilities.

The project is carried out in cooperation between Rescue Services of South Karelia, South Karelia wellbeing services county, Rescue Services of Kymenlaakso, Kymenlaakso wellbeing county, Aalto University, LUT University, LAB University of Applied Sciences as well as social and healthcare services of South Karelia wellbeing county.

In the project, a parametrization describing the state of evacuation safety of a care facility unit is developed by utilizing residents' functional capacity data and personnel assignment capacity data.

In addition, required information content of Building Information Models for the assessment will be specified as well as a service demo for applying BIM to evacuation safety assessment will be created.
