LAB Biofine’s operations will be strengthened and further developed through team changes over the summer. Project manager Teemu Piesanen will be taking family leave in August 2026. Piesanen has played a key role in LAB Biofine’s development and investment project, coordinating R&D activities for the innovation platform, and building corporate partnerships around bio-based material solutions.

Piesanen’s responsibilities will be transferred to project manager Aki Hämäläinen, who also works on a development project related to energy systems and hydrogen at LAB Universities of Applied Sciences. He will continue the implementation of both ongoing projects as well as the development of collaboration with companies and partner networks.

“I am happy to continue the work Teemu has built, and together with the team, we will ensure that the projects proceed as planned and generate value for companies and the region,” Hämäläinen states.

At the beginning of June, laboratory engineer Mikko Nikunen joined the LAB Biofine team. He is involved in the development of laboratory and piloting environments and supports the implementation of research and development activities as well as the services offered to companies.

These personnel changes support LAB Biofine’s growth as an innovation hub for the bioeconomy. Operations continue as planned, and development work is being advanced in close collaboration with companies, research organizations, and other partners.
