LAB took part in THE Sustainability Impact Ratings for the first time

LAB University of Applied Sciences participated for the first time in the Times Higher Education (THE) Sustainability Impact Ratings (formerly the THE Impact Rankings). The international ranking assesses how effectively higher education institutions contribute to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This year, 1,603 institutions from around the world took part, and LAB was placed in the 401–600 category overall.

There are 17 Sustainable Development Goals in total, and institutions are evaluated based on four selected goals. In this round, LAB was assessed against the following goals: decent work and economic growth (SDG 8), responsible consumption and production (SDG 12), climate action (SDG 13), and partnerships for the goals (SDG 17).

LAB performed strongly in climate action, where it ranked 95th globally. In addition, LAB placed among the top 101–200 institutions for responsible consumption and production, in the 201–300 category for decent work and economic growth, and in the 401–600 category for good health and well-being.

Sustainability and responsibility are taken into consideration across all aspects of LAB's operations, including education, research, development and innovation (RDI) activities, collaboration with businesses, and everyday campus life. The newly published results reflect LAB's performance in 2024 and provide an indication of the impact and effectiveness of its sustainability efforts.
