D.Sc. Janne Roslöf has been appointed as the Director of the Faculty of Technology at LAB University of Applied Sciences. He is set to take up the position in August 2025. He moves into this role from his position as Director of the Centre for Lifelong Learning at Åbo Akademi University.

Roslöf will lead the Faculty of Technology, ensuring the achievement of its strategic goals and maintaining balance in its operations and finances. As director, he will also act as a supervisor for the staff, taking responsibility for their well-being and working conditions.

“LAB has a long-standing tradition of excellent work in applied RDI activities and work-life-oriented education. I eagerly look forward to contributing to this work together with skilled colleagues and students”, says Roslöf.

Previously, Janne Roslöf held positions such as Professor of Practice at the University of Jyväskylä, as well as Education and Research Manager and Principal Lecturer at Turku University of Applied Sciences. Additionally, he has experience in industrial product development and start-up entrepreneurship.

Roslöf believes that the role of technology in addressing societal challenges and fostering development will continue to grow in a rapidly changing world.

“Technological solutions play a central role in solving societal challenges. In the future, it will be increasingly important for technical experts to understand the needs of different societal actors. LAB's multidisciplinary expert community, along with its close collaboration with LUT University and local industry, provides excellent opportunities for this”, he says.

LAB's Rector, Turo Kilpeläinen, views Roslöf's expertise and experience as an asset for the future of the Faculty of Technology. Roslöf's leadership background in the higher education sector and his extensive knowledge in research and development will support the faculty’s progress.

“The Faculty of Technology plays a pivotal role, particularly in strengthening the innovation activities of companies in South Karelia and Päijät-Häme. I believe that Janne's strong background and visionary approach will help elevate our faculty to the next level and advance our collaboration with local and international partners. We warmly welcome him to LAB and the LUT universities community”, says Kilpeläinen.
