Workshop 1: Knowledge transfer
Welcome to join a roundtable discussion about knowledge transfer!
Knowledge transfer (KT) has become a core capability for cities and regions striving to address complex societal challenges—from digitalization and green transition to demographic change and service innovation. Despite increasing recognition of its importance, KT processes often remain fragmented between universities, regional authorities, industry, and research communities. This roundtable brings together representatives from regional government, higher education institutions, business, and applied research to critically discuss how knowledge is exchanged, adapted, and applied in real-world decision-making. The discussion aims to surface both structural barriers and practical enablers that shape KT in regional innovation ecosystems.
The session will explore:
- How different actors understand knowledge transfer and what they expect from it
- How knowledge moves across organizational boundaries (formal and informal mechanisms)
- Practical examples of success and lessons learned from failures
- The role of trust, absorptive capacity, and shared strategic vision
- How cross-sector collaboration can be strengthened through new tools, routines, and governance models
This discussion is particularly relevant for professionals working with regional development, innovation ecosystems, higher education partnerships, public sector transformation, and evidence-informed policy-making.
The session is organized by the Interreg Europe funded Knowledge Analytics project.
