ECOtronics - Sustainable electronics and optics

ECOtronics ecosystem consists of a public research project and parallel company projects cooperating with the

research project. The main goal of ECOtronics consortium is to support renewal of Finnish electronics and

optics industry, to increase export, and to support development of sustainable electronics and optics

throughout their lifecycles.

Sustainability is targeted in both manufacturing and disposal by

1) moving towards recyclable and compostable materials, and

2) developing manufacturing flow towards more material efficient processes.



Research project part of ECOtronics focuses on material development (substrates, inks, assembly

materials) and evaluation, on component and process development (printing, hot embossing, overmoulding,

assembly, conductor patterning), and on life-cycle assessment in order to quantify the environmental impact

of the developed solutions.
