DOCMAN2 - Development of competencies and Modules to Enhance Advanced Practice across Europe for Health and Social Care Management Masters Students

DOCMAN targets a specific need, which has emerged through the unprecedented challenges in health and social care managers are facing; decreased resources or increasing cost, restructuring or reconfiguring of service delivery and increasing complexity. There is also a need for the DOCMAN project due to the changing landscape of education with an increasing focus on blended and online learning as well as the recognition of the tangible benefits of collaborative learning.

The aim of the project is to provide benchmarks for management competencec which are vitally needed for service delivery in these complex and challenging settings. DOCMAN will first provide a comprehensive educational needs analysis, focusing on the needs of health and social care managers facing the new and considerable challenges. This will then provide the research needed to formulate a competency framework for health and social care managers who are needing to lead the restructure and upheaval of health and social care in the EU. Bespoke online modules will be developed focused on the competencies but also novel strategies for online and blended learning to maximise opportunity for collaborative learning. This project will ultimately provide open access educational resources for health and social care management students with options for accreditation. There will also be an interactive online competency framework for all relevant professionals in this sector.
