Smart Cities in Smart Regions 2016 - Call for Papers

The call for proposals for oral presentations and posters on the mentioned themes and subthemes was closed on February 14th. We have received 116 abstracts that are currently under review. 

We will notify all authors by March 14th of the results of the review and provide instructions on the full papers and poster presentations.

Important dates

November 1, 2015: Abstract Submission opens

February 14, 2016: Abstract submission deadline

March 14, 2016: Notification of acceptance and instructions for writing the full paper or poster presentation

March 31, 2016: Closing of early bird registration

May 10 - 12, 2016: Conference

July 31, 2016: Full paper submission deadline 

October, 2016: Conference Proceedings will be published online​

Review Criteria​

Review Criteria - Academic

The academic abstracts are reviewed on the following criteria:

  • Does the submission contribute to innovation or development activities and/or produce new knowledge in the thematic area?
  • Are the research objectives clear?   
  • Is the methodology transparent, reliable and explicit?
  • Are the results comprehensible and accessible?
  • Are the eventual results relevant and useful to the wider population/companies/organizations/ cities?
  • Does the submission propose creative and effective ideas that will help the presentation succeed in being interactive?

Review Criteria - Practical

The practical case study abstracts are reviewed on the following criteria:

  • Are the objectives and relevance of the case study clear? 
  • Is the implementation approach of the case study clear?
  • Are the results comprehensible and accessible?
  • Does the case study demonstrate potential for expansion or scalability?
  • Are there potential economic, social and/or environmental impacts?
  • Does the submission propose creative and effective ideas that will help the presentation succeed in being interactive?
