The 23rd Language Centre Days will be organized from May 15 to 16, 2025 in Lappeenranta. The theme will be Language and communication education from the point of view of a sustainable future, and the goal is to consider from multiple angles what awaits us beyond the horizon – please join us in our reflections!
The plenary speakers of the days each approach the theme from the point of view of their own expertise. They are
- Professor Minna Maijala, University of Turku, Language Learning and Teaching
- Professor Tuija Saresma, University of Eastern Finland, Cultural Studies
- Docent and senior lecturer Katja Mäntylä, University of Jyväskylä, Multilingualism
- Academy Research Fellow Mélodine Sommier, University of Jyväskylä, Intercultural Communication
The Days will be concluded by an author and professional speaker who is known for her feisty yet inspiring style, Jenni Janakka. Her topics include the ease of misunderstanding, the threat of stereotype and verbalizing competence.
We would also like to invite the teachers of language and communication skills at universities to share their own experiences of language teaching, research, and development work. The registration and submission of proposals is now open.
