Are you interested in how to combine urban living with nature and wellbeing?
Do you want to know more about planetary health?

LAB University of Applied Sciences will arrange its traditional Summer School together with other Academic institutions operating in Lahti (University of Helsinki, LUT University and Lahti University Campus).

Lahti Summer School 2024 CO-DESIGN BETTER URBAN LIVING AND WELLBEING will be organized on 

27 May - 7 June 2024

Welcome to our summer school which is aimed for students interested in sustainable urban environments with either technical, business, design, social, communications or healthcare background. Multidisciplinary and international summer school focuses on themes related to planetary health. During the summer school, you will learn how human health and the health of the planet are closely connected and what can be done to protect and enhance both.


The presentations and discussion during the weeks will take place in authentic location in Lahti and surroundings. This way you can experience the environment and nature like locals. Program contains several sessions and lectures from experts, from field of environment, health and urban living.

Come and experience the international feeling in this Summer School! All students are welcome!

Topics of the summer school

Some examples of the topics:

  • Our impact on the environment
  • The impact of environmental changes on our health
  • Achieving sustainable lifestyles
  • Delivering successful consultancy presentation
  • Service design

This international summer school is aimed for both Bachelor’s and Master’s degree students with either technical, business, design, social, communications or healthcare background. All students are welcome! Please notice that we are taking max 80 students to course.
 

Study Program 5 ECTS 

The 2-week intensive study program consists of online pre-days, and two weeks course on campus. Study methods are teamwork, lectures, excursions, presentations and workshops. 

  • After registration, a mandatory pre-assignment will be sent to all registrants.
  • Before the physical course, there is a mandatory online lesson on  May 6 at 10 - 13 (Finnish time).
  • The physical part of the summer school starts on May 27 at 10 (Finnish time).

No fee.
Accommodation and travel to and from Lahti will be arranged and covered by participants.

Lahti Summer School registration is now open. Deadline for registration is 14 April.

NOTE: if you are LAB student with a access to PEPPI, please do your registration there.
