Lectures are arranged in English together with Finnish-language students, who participate in the parallel master's degree programme "Kestävä kaupunkiympäristö". All material texts and instructions are in English.
The thesis is generally carried out as a development project for the private or public sector. The thesis can also be based on RDI projects in LAB. The goal of the thesis is to adapt theory and research results to practice, to develop professional working methods, to introduce new solutions or models and to document the development work according to scientific principles.
The thesis work is an opportunity for students to give an individual profile of their studies. The work is expected to start at the beginning of the studies.
The Master’s students have opportunities to use the large international partner network of LAB University of Applied Sciences, and to apply for international exchange. The students of Urban Sustainability will have opportunities to participate in some courses arranged for the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree Programme MUrCS (Master in Urban Climate and Sustainability), of which LAB is a partner.
The study programme involves visiting lecturers from working life and other higher education institutions. Co-operation with other Master’s programmes in LAB gives opportunities for interdisciplinary studies and networks.
At LAB University of Applied Sciences, our goal is to renew the working life and ways of working. Together with our partners, we test new innovations and ways of doing things.
Our strengths include the circular economy, design, innovations and health.
