Bachelor of Culture and Arts, Industrial Design, full-time studies, Lahti, 240 ECTS
Industrial design offers a world of possibilities
In the Bachelor's Degree Programme in Industrial Design, students learn the creative methods of the design of products and user interfaces. Sustainability and user-centred design are at the core of all our design studies. Students familiarise themselves with the manufacturability and business aspects of design work.
As an example, a student can specialise in the design of new types of transportation and vehicles combined with the development of related business models. Industrial Design offers a world of possibilities. The programme places a strong emphasis on the hallmark skills of designers, such as visualisation and modelling. State-of-the-art facilities at the Lahti campus ensure that students can utilise a multitude of methods and modern equipment in their design work.
As studies advance, more and more of the learning will take place in real-life assignments and projects. Cooperation with local and international businesses ensures that the content of the studies is up to date and the professional networking possibilities are outstanding. This has proven to be a valuable tool towards a running start to a successful career.
Graduates work as designers of products, product related services and user interfaces in different businesses and the manufacturing industry. They can be employed at design and engineering companies. Industrial designers are well employed both in Finland and internationally, many as entrepreneurs.
The first year of study is online. This means students can complete their 1st and 2nd semester of studies even from abroad. The second year of studies includes a lot of hands-on work and attendance on campus is required.
